Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has dismissed claims that she ignored Fuji music star Wasiu Pasuma at a recent public gathering, describing the allegation as misleading and driven by an edited video.
The controversy emerged after a user on X, identified as @UOladiti, shared a short clip alleging that Akindele “stylishly snubbed” the Fuji icon during a birthday celebration for fellow actress Fathia Balogun.
In the now-viral footage, Akindele was seen greeting Balogun while Pasuma sat nearby, appearing disengaged as he looked at his phone.
The clip quickly drew reactions online, with some users interpreting the moment as a deliberate slight.
However, responding via her official X account on Sunday, Akindele refuted the claim, insisting that the circulating video failed to capture the full sequence of events.
“Snub? Hell no. Stop the negativity pls. I saw him, greeted him, danced with him. Pasuma is my egbon. Pls you all should stop this evil,” she wrote.
Subsequent longer footage from the same event has since surfaced, showing Akindele exchanging pleasantries with Pasuma before moving on to greet other guests.
Supporters of the actress have pointed to the extended clip as evidence that the initial video was selectively edited to create a false narrative.
The event, held in honour of Balogun, attracted several notable personalities, including TikTok figure Ashabi Olose.
This latest clarification comes weeks after another viral moment involving Akindele sparked online debate over her interaction with actress Toyin Abraham at the premiere of The Return of Arinzo.
While that incident also drew mixed reactions, Akindele has consistently maintained that social media narratives often misrepresent real-life interactions.
Reaffirming her stance, the actress urged users to refrain from spreading unfounded claims, warning against the growing trend of manipulating content to fuel controversy.
