A group of youths and students within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State is calling on party leadership to zone the 2027 Osun West senatorial ticket to the Ede Federal Constituency.
Operating under the banner “Concerned Youth and Students”, the group held a solidarity walk in Osogbo to demand equitable representation.
They argued that awarding the ticket to the E4 constituency – comprising Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo – would strengthen grassroots mobilisation and bolster the party’s electoral prospects.
Group coordinator Samuel Egunjobi stated that the E4 constituency has consistently delivered substantial votes for the APC, even when facing strong opposition from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Providing statistical evidence from recent elections, Egunjobi noted that the constituency remains a vital voting bloc despite the influence of the incumbent governor.
He argued that rewarding the area with the senatorial ticket would reflect its electoral contributions and promote internal party balance.
“In the spirit of fairness, the E4 should be allowed to serve,” Egunjobi said.
He pointed out that while the Ayedire, Iwo, and Ola-Oluwa constituency has held the senatorial seat for two consecutive terms, and the Ayedaade, Irewole, and Isokan constituency has produced gubernatorial candidates, the E4 zone is now due for representation.
Demonstrators carried placards with messages such as “Equity, Justice and Balance for E4” and “Zone Osun West Senatorial Ticket to E4″.
The group also urged APC leaders at all levels to prioritise unity and balanced representation to ensure a stronger political future for the party in Osun State.
