The family of the late Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) newscaster, Rachael Adebukola Akintade, has released the official schedule for her burial ceremonies.

Akintade, 54, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026.

To celebrate her life and professional legacy, the family scheduled a wake-keep for Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the BCOS Chapel, Ile-Akede, Orita Bashorun, Ibadan.

The funeral service will follow on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the BCOS RATTAWU Hall in Ile-Akede.

In a gesture of reverence, the family requested that all guests observe a white dress code for the ceremonies.

In a separate tribute, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Oyo State Council paid a condolence visit to the Akintade residence in Olodo, Ibadan.

A delegation led by NUJ Chairman Akeem Abas met with the bereaved husband, Pastor Femi Akintade, to offer support.

“She was a committed journalist whose contributions to the profession and the union would not be forgotten,” Abas said, noting that her dedication to service distinguished her from her peers.

Responding to the delegation, Pastor Akintade expressed gratitude for the union’s solidarity.

He described his wife’s passing as shocking but noted he finds solace in the belief that she is at rest.

Born in January 1972, the deceased broadcaster was a respected figure within the journalism community and previously served as the treasurer of the NUJ BCOS Chapel.
