Friends of late former Ogun State Television broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, have appealed to the Ogun State Government and security agencies to ensure that those responsible for her death are identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
The call was made by the group, Friends of Kitan Oyesiku, in a statement signed on Tuesday by Oluwaseun Boye, following the tragic death of the broadcaster and her security guard at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Ogun State.
The group described Oyesiku as a peaceful and compassionate individual whose life was cut short under disturbing circumstances, stressing that her death has left family members, friends, and associates devastated.
“Kitan was a peaceful, kind-hearted, and compassionate woman whose life was cut short in a cruel and senseless manner. She did not deserve such a painful end,” the statement read.
The appeal comes as the Ogun State Police Command continues its investigation into the incident.
Police had launched a probe after a resident reportedly alerted authorities to suspicious activities around the deceased’s home.
According to investigators, detectives who visited the scene discovered signs of forced entry and evidence of disturbance within the premises.
The security guard’s body was found at the security post, while Oyesiku’s remains were later recovered inside her apartment.
Police also disclosed that the deceased’s Lexus RX300 vehicle, initially reported missing after the incident, has since been recovered as part of ongoing investigations.
While commending the efforts of the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, and officers involved in the investigation, the group urged law enforcement authorities to sustain the momentum until all those connected to the crime are brought to justice.
“We commend the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, and officers of the Ogun State Police Command for the steps taken so far in the investigation. We appreciate their commitment and encourage them to sustain the momentum until every individual connected with this heinous crime is identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” Boye stated.
The group also urged the Ogun State government not to allow the case to fade from public attention, insisting that justice must be served and seen to be served.
“We respectfully appeal to the Ogun State Government and all relevant authorities not to allow Kitan’s murder to be swept under the carpet. Justice must not only be done but also be seen to be done.
“Bringing the perpetrators to justice will reassure the public that no life is insignificant and that criminal acts of this nature will not go unpunished,” the statement added.
Friends of the deceased further appealed to members of the public to provide any information that could assist investigators in uncovering the circumstances surrounding the killings.
According to the group, even seemingly minor details could prove crucial in helping security agencies solve the case and secure justice for the victims.
“We also renew our appeal to members of the public: if you know something, please say something. Any credible information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could be the breakthrough investigators need to ensure justice for Kitan,” Boye said.
The group expressed confidence that the truth would eventually emerge and that those responsible for the killings would be held accountable.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command disclosed on Monday that CP Ojajuni personally visited the crime scene and assured residents that investigators were making significant progress.
The command added that all available resources were being deployed to track down and apprehend those behind the murder.
