Veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has reportedly died after battling stage-four cancer.
The development was announced by his daughter, Kaira Taiwo, during a live session on Instagram, where she confirmed the death of the respected Yoruba actor.
The reported death comes days after members of the actor’s family took to social media to seek urgent medical assistance for him.
On Monday evening, Kaira and her sister, Lima Taiwo, had made emotional appeals for medical advice and support as their father continued his battle with the illness.
Kaira had disclosed that doctors treating the actor could no longer administer chemotherapy because of the state of his health.
The family subsequently appealed for alternative treatment options, including specialised medical procedures and traditional remedies, in a bid to save his life.
His colleagues in the industry had also organised a special prayer session for him, hoping for his survival from the deadly ailment.
Ogogo, one of the prominent figures in the Yoruba film industry, built a successful career spanning several decades and became widely recognised for his roles in Nigerian films and television productions.
His reported death has since triggered an outpouring of emotions among fans, colleagues and members of the entertainment industry, who have continued to celebrate his contributions to Nollywood.
