The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has congratulated its Patron, Otunba Salimon Akanni Oladiti, following his emergence as the National President of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).
In a statement jointly signed by the Council Chairman, Akeem Abas, and Secretary, Temidayo Adu, the union described Oladiti’s election as a well-earned recognition of his longstanding dedication, leadership, and commitment to advancing workers’ welfare within Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
The NUJ noted that his emergence was widely anticipated, citing his consistent track record of excellence and unwavering service within the labour movement.
According to the Council, Oladiti has, over the years, distinguished himself as a dependable advocate for workers’ rights and industry professionalism.
The statement further highlighted his previous role as National Chairman of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) branch of NUPENG, where he was credited with demonstrating strong leadership, promoting industrial harmony, and safeguarding the interests of members.
The Council also referenced his election at the 6th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of NUPENG held in Lagos in April 2026, describing the outcome as a clear indication of the confidence reposed in him by union members across the country.
While celebrating his new position, the Oyo NUJ commended Oladiti’s contributions as a patron and benefactor, noting that his sustained support has significantly enhanced the growth and development of the Council and its members.
Expressing optimism about his leadership, the union stated that Oladiti’s wealth of experience would be instrumental in steering NUPENG towards greater achievements. It urged him to uphold the principles of fairness, unity, and progress throughout his tenure.
