President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Ibadan-born businessman and philanthropist, Jubril Dotun Sanusi, on his 59th birthday, commending his contributions to youth development, philanthropy and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a birthday message issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Sanusi as a loyal APC member who had been mobilising support for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sanusi, who turned 59 on October 17, is the Chairman of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort in Ibadan and the founder of TNL Drilling Services.
The President noted that he built a career in the oil industry before establishing his own business, having worked with multinational companies including Halliburton, Saipem, Hanover and Beckfield.
Tinubu also highlighted Sanusi’s investments in education and sports, particularly his establishment of ICAST School and Ilaji Soccer Academy.
According to the President, the initiatives have provided platforms for young people to develop their educational and sporting potential, with the soccer academy creating opportunities for talented footballers to pursue careers beyond Nigeria.
He specifically noted that the academy had provided a platform for developing football talents for possible recruitment by teams in Spain and Malta.
“Chief Sanusi, as a businessman of note, you have demonstrated compassion, generosity and an unwavering commitment to humanity, giving back to your community roots, Ibadan and Oyo State at large,” Tinubu said.
The President described Sanusi as an exemplary son of Ibadan and Oyo State, while commending what he characterised as his humility, kindness and commitment to community development.
“I appreciate your invaluable contributions to our party and your unalloyed personal support,” he added.
Sanusi has, in recent years, combined his business interests with investments in hospitality, sports and education.
Public reports identify Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort as one of his major investments in Ibadan, while ICAST was established as an educational institution in the city.
His political activities have also become more prominent ahead of the 2027 elections.
In September, Sanusi mobilised community groups in Ona Ara Local Government Area in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid and the governorship aspiration of Senator Sharafadeen Alli in Oyo State.
Tinubu concluded his message by praying for Sanusi’s continued good health, greater accomplishments and many more years of service to humanity.
“As you celebrate your birthday today, I pray that Almighty God will continue to grant you good health, greater accomplishments and many more fulfilling years of service to humanity,” the President said.
