The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed four officers allegedly linked to the killing of seven traders during a violent incident in Owode-Onirin, Lagos.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Olohundare Jimoh, confirmed the dismissal while speaking with journalists at the Police Officers’ Mess in Ikeja on Thursday.
Jimoh said the officers were implicated in the unlawful killings and had been brought into Lagos from Nasarawa State by the principal suspect identified as “Ariori.”
According to the commissioner, investigations into the incident are ongoing, but authorities have already made significant progress.
“This matter has not been swept under the carpet, and we want the public and all the families of the victims to know that nobody can stop us from ensuring that justice is done,” Jimoh said.
“We will leave no stone unturned and will not be intimidated by anyone. All suspects will be prosecuted, and the courts remain open to hear every case.”
He explained that the investigation had reached an advanced stage, noting that about 98 per cent of the process had been completed.
Jimoh added that the prosecution of suspects would rely on forensic evidence, including ballistic and autopsy reports, which are expected to strengthen the case in court.
The police chief reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to its constitutional responsibility of maintaining law and order, stressing that no individual or group would be allowed to obstruct the pursuit of justice.
He also urged residents and traders across Lagos to remain vigilant while assuring them that the police would continue to take decisive actions to safeguard lives and property.
The killings occurred in August 2025 during a clash between suspected land grabbers and traders in the Owode-Onirin area of Lagos State, leaving seven traders dead and sparking public outrage.
