The Osun State Police Command has arrested four suspects over alleged conspiracy, attempted murder, assault occasioning harm and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms in Modakeke, Ife East Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were arrested following a petition submitted to the Commissioner of Police over the alleged offences.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, police operatives apprehended the suspects at about 2am on August 9, 2026, in Modakeke.
Those arrested were Olufemi Olatunji, 39; Ajayi Idowu, 31; Akingbala Oluwakemi, 40; and Adekunle Basirat, 40.
The police said searches conducted at the suspects’ residences and premises led to the recovery of two firearms.
A cut-to-size locally made firearm was reportedly recovered from the shop of Basirat, identified by the police as the wife of Solomon Akinlabi, popularly known as “Indomine”.
A pump-action firearm was also recovered from the residence of Oluwakemi, whom the police identified as the wife of Akingbala Akindele, also known as “Ostand”.
The four suspects remain in police custody and are assisting investigators with the ongoing probe, while the Command said efforts were underway to arrest other suspects allegedly involved in the case who are currently at large.
In a separate development, operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) arrested six suspected members of an alleged unlawful society following information about an attack on a school campus.
The police said the suspects were arrested after receiving information that armed hoodlums had invaded the campus with dangerous weapons and injured two students on the premises.
Those arrested were Ajoba Akorede, 27; Adam Oseni, 27; Ogunrinde Ayomide, 21; Ogunlana Muheez, 26; Ajose Noah, 25; and Adeniyi Damola, 25.
During interrogation, the police said Akorede and Oseni confessed to being members of the Aye confraternity.
The Command said investigation into the matter was still ongoing and that all the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
The Osun State Police Command urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation remained crucial to preventing and combating crime in the state.
