The Oyo State Government has announced plans for the inaugural edition of #VibratingDecember, a state-wide tourism and entertainment fiesta aimed at showcasing the state’s rich cultural heritage while boosting local businesses during the festive season.
According to a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media to Governor Seyi Makinde, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the initiative follows the presentation of a memo by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, to the State Executive Council.
Olatubosun disclosed that the carnival, otherwise known as Faaji December, would not be confined to Ibadan, the state capital, but would be held simultaneously in other major towns and communities across Oyo State. He added that comprehensive security measures had been put in place to safeguard lives and property throughout the celebration.
“The Vibrating December experience is designed to make the entire state bubble with energy and colour while stimulating economic activities for residents and businesses. It will create a vibrant festive atmosphere that unites communities and attracts both domestic and international visitors,” he said.
The carnival, set to commence in the first week of December, will feature an array of events including Legendary December with a Beer Village, Fantasyland Variety Program, Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival, Oyo Durbar, Amaland Festival, Atewolara Festival, Hotel Vibes, Ojude UI, and various artistes’ hangouts and concerts.
Governor Makinde is expected to formally launch the event, which is organized in collaboration with local communities, cultural groups, and corporate sponsors. The Commissioner assured that the initiative aligns with the administration’s broader goal of positioning Oyo as a premier tourism destination in Nigeria and beyond.
He emphasized that the carnival would serve as a convergence point for creativity, culture, and commerce, offering visitors a memorable experience while highlighting the diverse traditions that define the state’s identity.
With the theme of unity and celebration, #VibratingDecember is envisioned as an annual event that will not only entertain but also strengthen community bonds and promote Oyo’s image as a vibrant and hospitable destination.
