The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has unveiled Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
Adeola presented Adegunwa-Balogun to party leaders and stakeholders on Sunday at the APC State Secretariat on Abiola Way, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The event was attended by prominent party figures, including Governor Dapo Abiodun, APC State Chairman Yemisi Sanusi, Senator Gbenga Kaka and Senator Akin Odunsi, among others.
Speaking at the unveiling, Adeola described Adegunwa-Balogun as a dependable partner who would work alongside him to advance the development of Ogun State and build on the achievements of the current administration.
He praised his running mate as a disciplined, upright and experienced professional, expressing confidence in her ability to contribute meaningfully to governance if the APC wins the 2027 election.
According to Adeola, the selection of Adegunwa-Balogun followed extensive consultations with key stakeholders across the state, adding that the decision was reached after careful consideration.
Adegunwa-Balogun, who hails from Ososa in Ogun East Senatorial District, is the daughter of renowned businessman, philanthropist and industrialist, Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa.
Her emergence as the deputy governorship candidate comes about two months after Adeola was announced as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate and later ratified through a direct primary election conducted across the state’s 236 wards.
The formal adoption of Adegunwa-Balogun was completed during the gathering after Governor Abiodun moved a motion for her endorsement as the party’s deputy governorship candidate.
The motion received unanimous approval from party stakeholders through a voice vote, officially confirming her as Adeola’s running mate for the 2027 governorship race.
