The family of late Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has announced the remaining programmes for his burial rites.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by veteran actor Jide Kosoko, who said he had been authorised by the family to issue the statement.
According to Kosoko, the family expressed appreciation to fans, friends, colleagues, associates and other well-wishers who attended Ogogo’s burial on Monday, August 24, 2026.
He said the large turnout at the burial demonstrated the love and respect the late actor enjoyed during his lifetime.
The family announced that the eighth-day Fidau prayer for Ogogo will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, in Ilaro, Ogun State.
It appealed to fans, colleagues, friends and well-wishers to continue supporting the family by attending the prayer in large numbers and joining in prayers for the repose of the late actor.
The family also announced a 40-day Artists’ Day in Ogogo’s honour, scheduled to take place at the Pavilion Hall, Ilaro.
The event will feature performances by actors, musicians, comedians, singers and other entertainers who will gather to celebrate Ogogo’s life, career and contributions to Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
According to the family, the Artists’ Day is a traditional tribute by members of the entertainment industry to honour one of its icons.
The statement, signed by Kosoko on behalf of the family, appealed to supporters to continue rallying around Ogogo’s family during the mourning period.
It also prayed that Almighty Allah would reward those who supported the family and grant Ogogo Al-Jannah Firdaus.
“On behalf of the family of our late colleague, Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo Hassan, a.k.a. Ogogo, I have the mandate of the family to express our profound appreciation to everyone who turned out en masse for his burial on Monday, 24th August 2026,” the statement said.
The family further stated that the Artists’ Day would take place 40 days after Ogogo’s burial and would serve as a special day of entertainment and tribute.
The programme will be coordinated by the Theatre and Motion Picture Practitioners of Nigeria (TAMPAN).
Ogogo died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, days after his daughter, Kira, disclosed that the actor was battling stage four cancer.
