The Lagos State University (LASU) has confirmed that all outstanding results for graduating students in its Department of English have been uploaded, assuring qualified students that they will not be delayed from graduating.
The university gave the assurance on Sunday, August 23, 2026, following an investigation by its management into allegations that some final-year students risked missing graduation because their results had not been uploaded.
In a statement, LASU said the Department of English had completed the upload of all outstanding results as of Sunday.
“Following an enquiry by the University Management into the allegation concerning the non-upload of results of some graduating students in the Department of English, the University wishes to clarify that the Department has uploaded all outstanding results as of Sunday, 23 August 2026,” the institution said.
The university consequently assured students who had satisfied all graduation requirements that they would graduate alongside their colleagues in the just-concluded 2025/2026 academic session.
LASU also ruled out the possibility of qualified students being forced to spend an additional academic year because of the delayed result uploads.
“No student who has met all graduation requirements will be required to spend an extra year on account of the issue raised,” the university stated.
However, the institution clarified that students whose results remained outstanding after the latest upload had not yet completed the requirements for graduation.
“Any student whose result remains outstanding following this action has yet to fulfil the requirements for graduation and is advised to complete the necessary requirements accordingly,” LASU said.
The clarification followed concerns raised on social media that more than 100 students in the Department of English could miss LASU’s last convocation ceremony over allegedly unuploaded results.
The claims were amplified by an X user, @TheAjakeManger, who alleged that the issue affected students across different levels and could force some students to spend an additional year at the university.
LASU had on Saturday acknowledged the complaint and said its management was investigating the matter.
The latest statement is expected to ease concerns among affected students and their families, with the university reiterating its commitment to ensuring that students who have completed all graduation requirements are not unnecessarily delayed.
