The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has fixed Saturday, June 13, 2026, for the conduct of the mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for candidates affected by technical glitches, biometric verification issues, and withdrawn results during the 2026 exercise.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday by the Board’s Public Communications Adviser, Fabian Benjamin.

According to the Board, the mop-up examination is strictly for candidates who were duly registered and successfully captured biometrically but were unable to sit for the main examination due to circumstances beyond their control.

JAMB explained that the affected candidates include those posted to centres where technical failures disrupted the examination process, candidates who could not be verified biometrically despite presenting themselves for the exercise, and candidates whose results were withdrawn over alleged examination malpractice or infractions.

The Board described the mop-up examination as the final stage of the 2026 UTME cycle aimed at resolving all pending issues arising from the main examination exercise.

“The 2026 UTME was conducted between 23rd and 29th April, 2026. However, some centres experienced technical challenges which made it impossible for a number of candidates to sit the examination.

“Some results were subsequently withdrawn over examination infractions, while some candidates who presented themselves for the examination could not be verified biometrically,” the statement read.

JAMB stressed that the exercise would serve as the last opportunity for all affected candidates to complete the 2026 admission examination process.

“The mop-up examination represents the final phase of the annual UTME exercise and serves as an opportunity to address all outstanding examination challenges involving candidates who duly presented themselves but encountered difficulties in taking the examination,” the Board added.

The examination body directed affected candidates to begin printing their examination notification slips from Saturday, June 6, 2026, in preparation for the exercise.

Candidates were also advised to confirm their examination centres early and make adequate logistical arrangements ahead of the scheduled date.

“Affected candidates are hereby urged to print their Examination Notification Slips, familiarise themselves with their examination centres, and make all necessary arrangements ahead of the examination date,” the statement noted.

JAMB further warned that no additional opportunity would be provided after the mop-up examination, urging candidates to strictly comply with all instructions issued by the Board.

The development follows the conduct of the main 2026 UTME between April 16 and April 25, during which some centres reportedly experienced technical disruptions and biometric verification challenges that affected candidates nationwide.

Earlier in the admission cycle, JAMB also held its annual policy meeting on May 11, 2026, where stakeholders approved minimum admissible cut-off marks of 150 for universities, 150 for colleges of nursing sciences, and 100 for polytechnics and colleges of education. Institutions, however, retain the authority to set higher cut-off marks for competitive programmes.
