Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has appealed to residents of the state to re-elect him in Saturday’s governorship election, saying his administration has fulfilled the promises made to the people and laid a solid foundation for sustained development.

Speaking in a statewide broadcast on Wednesday, the governor reflected on the achievements of his administration over the last three and a half years, describing good governance as the cornerstone of the progress recorded across the state.

Oyebanji, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the June 20 governorship election, said his government was guided by a six-point agenda introduced during the 2022 campaign, which later evolved into the six pillars of his administration.

According to him, the government has remained faithful to its commitments and delivered on the key objectives outlined in its manifesto.

“I am glad to remark that we have kept our promises on these pillars. Good governance is the bedrock of development,” the governor said.

Seeking another four-year term in office, Oyebanji urged the electorate to extend the “Shared Prosperity” mandate they entrusted to him four years ago, assuring them that a renewed mandate would accelerate development and enable the completion of ongoing projects.

He expressed confidence that the administration’s socioeconomic programmes would achieve even greater impact if given another term, adding that the groundwork already laid would support faster service delivery and broader economic growth.

“While we are proud of the landmark achievements we have recorded in the last four years, I am very confident that with another four years of your mandate, we will be able to take the socioeconomic plans of our administration to greater heights,” he said.

The governor noted that the positive feedback and support received from residents across the state had encouraged his administration to remain focused on delivering quality governance.

He added that another term would provide the opportunity to consolidate existing gains, institutionalise policy initiatives, pursue new development goals and implement the state’s long-term 30-year development plan.

“With another four years of Shared Prosperity mandate, we will be able to complete all our ongoing projects, entrench policy initiatives, pursue new vision and open new frontiers of development in accordance with our 30-year Development Plan,” he stated.

Oyebanji also called on political actors, election observers, security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure that the electoral process remains peaceful and credible.

He described the current electioneering period as the most peaceful in the state’s history and urged all participants to maintain the atmosphere of harmony before, during and after the election.

“So far, this current political electioneering has been the most peaceful in the history of our state, and we must do everything to ensure that the election and post-election activities remain peaceful,” he said.

The governor used the opportunity to express appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for what he described as unwavering political and intergovernmental support to his administration.

He also acknowledged the contributions of First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and leaders of the APC at both national and state levels.

Concluding his address, Oyebanji thanked the people of Ekiti State for the opportunity to serve them, assuring them of his continued commitment to the state’s development.

“Thank you for the privilege to serve you in the last four years. Thank you for reposing your sacred trust in us. I do not take this for granted and I am eternally grateful to you,” he said.
