The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has moved to strengthen his campaign media machinery with the appointment of prominent journalists and communication professionals to key positions.
Among those appointed are former South-West Bureau Chief of The Nation newspaper, Bisi Oladele, as Director of Media and Publicity; Kehinde Olaosebikan as Director of Strategic Communication; and Bolaji Tunji as Director of Public Affairs.
The appointments were contained in a statement issued by Dare Adekanmbi, Media Consultant to Alli, and made available to journalists in Ibadan on Thursday.
Former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, Ademola Babalola, was appointed Deputy Director, while Oyo State APC Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, will serve as Secretary of the media and publicity team.
Oladele, a seasoned multimedia journalist and communication strategist with more than 25 years of experience in journalism and public relations, is expected to coordinate the campaign’s media and publicity operations.
Until his appointment, he was Executive Editor of Newspeak Media and Chairman of the South-West Guild of Online Publishers (SWEGOP).
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education (English) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and a Master’s degree in Communication and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan. He is also concluding a PhD in Political Communication at Lead City University, Ibadan.
Oladele will work with other experienced professionals across various communication genres, including Ayotunde Olude, to strengthen the campaign’s media visibility, publicity and strategic messaging.
Olaosebikan, a veteran media practitioner, previously served as Chief Press Secretary to the late Oyo State Governor, Lam Adesina, and brings extensive experience in strategic communication and government-media relations.
Tunji, also a seasoned journalist and communication practitioner, served as Special Adviser to the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi on Communication and Strategy.
According to the statement, the appointments are aimed at strengthening media visibility, strategic communication, public engagement and information management for the campaign.
The composition of the team brings together professionals with experience in journalism, government communication, public relations, political communication and digital media, as Alli seeks to consolidate his campaign structure in the state.
