Chairman and Director of Studies of Champions International Schools, Magodo, Ogun State, Fola Adekeye, has received the International Centre for Comparative Leadership for Africans and Blacks in the Diaspora’s African Role Model and Leadership Award.

Organised in conjunction with Accolade Communications Limited, Lagos, the award is instituted to honour outstanding individuals who have excelled in their respective areas of endeavour and have made meaningful impacts in the lives of people.

Adekeye was among the distinguished Nigerians who were honoured at an elaborate event held at the Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday, 20th June, 2026. The lineup also included Dr. Daniel Olukoya, General Overseer, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM).

According to the organisers, the foremost educationist was recognised for his “Exemplary Leadership as a Role Model for Unwavering Integrity, Transformative Service and Commitment to African Excellence” by moulding the lives of many young Nigerians through the quality education he has been leading Champions International Schools to deliver in the past two decades.

An elated Adekeye shared the news of his recognition on his personal Facebook account on Saturday, promising to continue to lead with integrity as he mentors the next generation.

The award was received on his behalf by some Champions School officials, led by the vice principal, Emmanuel Nwabuakwu. Femi Abegunde and Oluwatobi Awe were also part of the team.

Before venturing into school administration and specialised publishing, Adekeye was an award-winning journalist, and has worked with leading media organisations in Nigeria, including NewsWatch and TELL magazines.

In his remark, the award convener and CEO of Accolade Communications Limited, Dr. Luke Okojie, identified recognition of experts and industry icons as key to Africa’s development.

According to him, no nation can achieve sustainable development or genuine economic growth if it fails to recognise, celebrate, and leverage the contributions of its experts and icons.

“Development is not driven by policy alone. It is driven by people – by the professionals, innovators, and leaders whose work shapes industries, inspires communities, and builds national reputation,” Dr Okojie said. “When countries ignore or undervalue these individuals, they lose both talent and momentum.”
