The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates, bringing an end to weeks of anticipation for millions of students across Nigeria.
The examination body announced the release on Wednesday through its official X account, urging candidates to access the results via its online portal after generating the required login credentials.
“UPDATE: 2026 WASSCE (SC) results have been released. Generate your PIN at waec.org and check your results now on waecdirect.org,” WAEC stated.
The 2026 WASSCE for school candidates was conducted nationwide between April 21 and June 19, with more than 1.9 million candidates participating in the examination.
According to WAEC, candidates must first obtain a Serial Number and Personal Identification Number (PIN) before they can access their results.
To retrieve these credentials, candidates are required to visit the council’s official website and click on the “Serial Number and PIN” option displayed at the top of the homepage.
Applicants will then be asked to select the appropriate examination year and diet before entering their examination number and National Identification Number (NIN). WAEC stressed that the NIN provided must be the same one submitted during the registration process for the examination.
Candidates are also expected to provide a valid email address and phone number to receive a One-Time Password (OTP) needed to complete the verification process.
Once the OTP has been successfully verified, the system will generate the candidate’s Serial Number and PIN, which can then be used to access the result on the WAEC Direct portal.
The release of the results marks the conclusion of the 2026 WASSCE process for school candidates, following the nationwide examination that ran for nearly two months.
