The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has introduced a new toll-free emergency hotline, 3367, providing residents with a faster and more convenient way to report traffic incidents and monitor the conduct of traffic officials across the state.

The initiative, announced in a statement on Sunday by the agency’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq, replaces LASTMA’s previous long-service code platform and is aimed at improving emergency response and public access to traffic management services.

According to the agency, the short code is available at no cost to subscribers on MTN, Glo and 9mobile, enabling millions of road users to contact traffic authorities without incurring call charges.

Through the 3367 hotline, motorists and other residents can promptly report broken-down vehicles, road crashes, disabled articulated trucks, stranded fuel tankers, traffic obstructions and other incidents requiring immediate intervention by traffic officials.

Beyond emergency reporting, the platform also allows members of the public to provide feedback on the conduct and professionalism of LASTMA personnel while on duty.

The agency said the measure is designed to enhance transparency, accountability and service delivery.

To ensure wider accessibility, callers can communicate with customer service representatives in English, Yoruba or Pidgin English.

The launch fulfils an earlier commitment by LASTMA to deploy a dedicated toll-free short code as part of its drive to make traffic management services more accessible and improve response times on Lagos roads.

The agency noted that the new hotline complements its ongoing deployment of technology to strengthen traffic management operations.

In recent months, LASTMA has expanded the use of surveillance drones, GPS-enabled patrol vehicles and a central command-and-control system to monitor road conditions and coordinate emergency responses more efficiently.

Speaking on the development, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the introduction of the hotline as a significant milestone in the agency’s efforts to build a more responsive transportation system.

“The inauguration of the 3367 Toll-Free Short-Code Hotline represents another monumental stride towards institutionalising a safer, more efficient and highly responsive transportation ecosystem across Lagos State. It provides residents with a direct, convenient and cost-free channel through which incidents requiring immediate intervention can be promptly reported,” he said.

Bakare-Oki explained that the rapid expansion of Lagos, one of Africa’s largest cities, demands a technology-driven approach to traffic management capable of addressing the state’s evolving transportation challenges.

He assured residents that all reports received through the hotline would be treated professionally and confidentially before being forwarded to the appropriate operational units for swift action.

The LASTMA boss urged Lagos residents to make full use of the platform by reporting traffic emergencies and supporting efforts to improve road safety, enhance accountability among traffic officers and promote more efficient traffic management across the state.

The introduction of the hotline also aligns with the Lagos State Government’s broader strategy of strengthening emergency response coordination through digital communication tools that provide residents with quicker access to public safety services.
