Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, the husband of former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has died at the age of 62.

The Adeosun family announced his passing in a statement issued on Thursday, revealing that he died on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos State.

The statement, titled “Announcement of the Passing of Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun,” was signed by Rev. C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family.

Describing the late Adeosun as a respected businessman and committed Christian, the family said he lived a life marked by integrity, generosity and unwavering faith.

“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Wednesday, 5th August 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read.

The family said the deceased dedicated his life to hard work, service to God and the well-being of his family and community.

“He was 62 years old. Niyi was a distinguished businessman and a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity, and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him.

“He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community,” the statement added.

Seeking strength during the period of mourning, the family expressed faith in God and cited a Bible passage as a source of comfort while grieving what it described as an irreplaceable loss.

It also disclosed that funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced at a later date.

Anthony Adeosun is survived by his wife, former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun, his children, and his siblings, including businessman Adewale Adeosun, founder of Kuramo Capital.

The family expressed appreciation to friends, associates and well-wishers for their prayers, condolences and support.

“We thank all who have reached out with prayers, condolences, and support. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the Lord,” the statement concluded.
