The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, have mourned the death of the party’s South-West Women Leader, Arabinrin Yetunde Shakirat Adesanya.
Adesanya died on Thursday evening at her Lagos residence after a prolonged illness.
Reacting to the development, Governor Abiodun described the late politician as a loyal and dependable party stalwart who devoted her life to grassroots mobilisation and the advancement of women in politics and governance.
In a condolence message, the governor said Adesanya played a significant role in strengthening the women’s wing of the APC across the South-West through effective mobilisation, mentorship, and selfless service to the party.
He noted that her commitment to progressive ideals, humility, and dedication earned her admiration and respect among party faithful and political associates nationwide.
“Her death is painful and devastating. Ogun State and the APC family have lost a courageous, dependable and highly resourceful woman whose contributions to party development and women’s empowerment will never be forgotten,” Abiodun stated.
Also mourning the late APC chieftain, Senator Adeola described her passing as a huge loss to her family, Ogun State, the APC, and the country at large.
The senator recalled that Adesanya was among his earliest supporters in Ogun State politics, describing her as a genuine loyalist of the party and a strong advocate for women’s participation in governance.
According to him, the deceased distinguished herself honourably in the service of the party and womenfolk.
“The death of Arabinrin Adesanya is a devastating loss to Ogun State and the APC family, particularly among the womenfolk, where she discharged herself honourably. She was a principled, dependable and resourceful woman whose contributions to party development and women’s causes will remain evergreen,” Adeola said.
