The Ekiti State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled its candidates for the 2027 Senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly elections, declaring its readiness to challenge established political parties in the state.

Speaking after the affirmation exercise held in Ado Ekiti on Friday, the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Ekiti North I Federal Constituency, Ayodele David-Adesua, commended stakeholders and party supporters for the peaceful conduct of the process.

David-Adesua described the exercise as a demonstration of the party’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency and purposeful leadership.

According to him, the NDC remains focused on promoting youth empowerment, economic development and effective representation for the people of Ekiti State.

He expressed optimism that the party would make a strong electoral impact in the 2027 general elections and secure victories in both federal and state legislative contests.

“On my part, I assure my constituents of quality representation in the House of Representatives when elected in the general election,” he said.

He added that the orderly and peaceful affirmation process reflected the organisational strength and shared vision within the party.

“The peaceful and organised nature of the process to unveil NDC candidates in Ekiti State speaks volumes about the quality of membership, organisational ability and strength of purpose in the NDC. We will not compromise the victory of our candidates in the 2027 general elections,” David-Adesua stated.

The party explained that the candidates emerged after consultations, stakeholder engagements and strategic meetings involving party leaders across the South-West zone.

The affirmation exercise followed an aspirants’ dinner and stakeholders’ meeting attended by the Deputy National Chairman (South), Babatunde Alli, and the National Chairman, South-West Zone, Pastor Adedayo Ekong.

The Ekiti State Chairman of the party, Musa Arogundade, said the consensus arrangement adopted by the party was aimed at strengthening unity, internal cohesion and electoral preparedness ahead of the 2027 polls.

“The candidates emerged through a transparent consensus arrangement designed to strengthen party unity, internal democracy and electoral readiness ahead of the 2027 elections,” Arogundade said.

The party unveiled Olu Alufa as its senatorial candidate for Ekiti Central, Prince Adeyinka Alli for Ekiti North and Dr. Ayokunle Ayodele for Ekiti South.

For the House of Representatives seats, the party affirmed Babafemi Adegbite for Ekiti Central I, Modupe Adesola for Ekiti Central II, Ayodele David-Adesua for Ekiti North I, Temiyo Ajayi for Ekiti North II, Oluwashola Babalola for Ekiti South I and Sunday Adebayo for Ekiti South II.

The party also presented its candidates for the Ekiti State House of Assembly elections.

In his remarks, the Ekiti South senatorial candidate, Ayodele, described the process as a positive development for Nigeria’s democratic system.

He said the emergence of the NDC at a critical period in the country’s political evolution represented hope and a renewed commitment to people-oriented governance.

“The emergence of the NDC at this critical period is nothing short of a divine intervention. The NDC represents hope, rescue, rebuilding and the restoration of people-centred governance capable of repositioning Nigeria for greatness,” he said.

Ayodele reaffirmed the party’s commitment to transparency, economic growth, youth inclusion and purposeful governance.

Similarly, the senatorial candidate for Ekiti North, Prince Adeyinka Alli, praised the consensus arrangement, describing it as evidence of unity, maturity and visionary leadership within the party.

He pledged to prioritise quality representation and people-focused governance if elected.

Also speaking, the House of Representatives candidate for Ekiti Central I, Babafemi Adegbite, said the process had shown that credible leadership could emerge through fairness, dialogue and collective agreement.

Party stakeholders at the event expressed confidence that the emergence of consensus candidates would strengthen the NDC’s popularity and position it as a growing political force in Ekiti State despite the dominance of the All Progressives Congress.

They urged party members, youths, professionals and other residents to support the candidates and join the party’s mission to “rescue, rebuild and reposition Nigeria for sustainable progress and inclusive governance.”
