The Ondo State Police Command has intensified security operations in Akotogbo community, located in Irele Local Government Area, following the discovery of the bodies of two residents in separate locations within the area.

Identified as Loyinmi Bode and Andrew Friday, the victims were reportedly found dead in bushes in incidents said to have occurred within the past one month.

The disturbing discoveries have triggered fear and tension among residents of the agrarian community, with many calling on security agencies and the Ondo State government to take swift action to prevent further attacks and restore confidence among locals.

Confirming the development on Wednesday, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, said the command had already deployed operatives to the affected area and was closely monitoring the situation.

According to him, the police remained committed to protecting lives and property across the state.

“The command is fully aware of these developments and remains resolute in its constitutional mandate of protecting the lives and property of all law-abiding residents of Ondo State,” he stated.

Jimoh explained that additional security measures had been introduced in Akotogbo and neighbouring communities to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

“In response, robust security measures have been emplaced within Akotogbo and its adjoining communities to prevent any breakdown of law and order and ensure sustained public safety,” the police spokesperson added.

He also disclosed that investigations were ongoing to identify those responsible for the killings, assuring residents that efforts were being intensified to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators.
