Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, otherwise known as Davido, has announced a two-month hiatus from his music career to support the re-election bid of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The singer has been appointed chairman of the Imole Campaign Council Youth Committee.
While inaugurating the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team in Ede on Tuesday, Davido explained that his decision to step away from the spotlight was driven by a commitment to the governor’s ongoing administration.
“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my Uncle, not only because he is my Uncle but because he is doing a good job and he has major things to do,” Davido stated.
He added that the governor’s work is unfinished and emphasised the importance of youth influence in securing a victory.
Addressing the newly formed committee, Davido called for aggressive grassroots engagement.
He urged members to conduct door-to-door mobilisation across all local government areas to promote the governor’s past achievements and future development plans.
Davido also encouraged the team to build strong relationships within their respective communities to bridge the gap between the people and the administration.
The committee’s leadership includes Vice Chairman Adeshina Kayode Olododo and Secretary Hon. Gbenga Idowu.
Other prominent members include Hon. Mutiu Oladimeji, Hon. Tomiwa Babalola, Hon. Mayowa Oloso, Hon. Olatunji Awodira, and Otunba Tunde Badmus.
Additional appointments to the committee include Hon. Dapo Okunola, Hon. Majeed Salami, Chief Owodunni Ramon, and Hon. Deji Bello.
