President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his re-election victory, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of the governor’s leadership and performance in office.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully and orderly during Saturday’s governorship election.

Tinubu said the governor’s victory reflected the confidence voters had in his administration and its development agenda.

He noted that the re-election made Oyebanji the first governor in the history of Ekiti State to secure consecutive electoral victories and return for a second term.

The president also commended security agencies for maintaining peace throughout the election and urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain efforts aimed at strengthening the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process.

As the country prepares for the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State and next year’s general elections, Tinubu called on the electoral body to continue delivering peaceful, free, fair and credible polls.

Reflecting on Oyebanji’s first term in office, the president highlighted what he described as notable achievements in key sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, youth employment and rural development under the governor’s BAO agenda.

According to Tinubu, the governor’s renewed mandate represents a clear endorsement of continuity, stability and people-centred governance.

The president, however, advised Oyebanji to remain magnanimous in victory and ensure that all residents of the state are carried along as he begins another four-year term.

He also acknowledged the contributions of other candidates who participated in the election, commending them for exercising their democratic rights and encouraging them to support the governor in advancing the state’s development.

“It is now time to rally round Oyebanji in the task of taking Ekiti to the next level of governance,” the president said.

Tinubu further reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to collaborating with the Ekiti State Government on development initiatives and the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He concluded by praying for divine wisdom, strength and good health for the governor as he continues to serve the people of Ekiti State.
