President Bola Tinubu is set to embark on a three-nation diplomatic tour, departing Abuja on Saturday, May 2, with scheduled visits to France, Kenya, and Rwanda.

According to a State House press statement issued on Friday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the President will first make a stop in France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, where he will participate in the upcoming Africa-France Summit.

The summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, is scheduled to hold from May 11 to May 12.

It will focus on key issues such as energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and the restructuring of the global financing architecture.

Themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth”, the gathering is expected to bring together African leaders and their French counterparts to deliberate on pressing continental priorities, including economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, technological advancement, and peace-building.

The presidency noted that Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with both African nations and France.

Following the Kenya engagement, the president will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the 2026 Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 to May 15.

The forum, themed “Scale or Fail”, is regarded as one of the continent’s largest assemblies of private sector leaders, investors, and policymakers.

Organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation, the event is expected to attract over 2,000 top executives and government officials, focusing on strategies to accelerate Africa’s economic transformation through regional integration, increased cross-border investments, and industrial growth.

During both engagements, Tinubu is expected to deliver keynote addresses outlining his administration’s economic reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria as a leading investment destination.

He will also hold high-level bilateral meetings with global and African business leaders.

The president will be accompanied by selected ministers and senior government officials on the trip and is expected to return to Nigeria after concluding his engagements in Rwanda.
