The Governing Council of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED) has approved the appointment of Professor Samuel Ekundayo Oladipo as the institution’s new vice-chancellor.
Oladipo, a distinguished professor of social psychology, will become the university’s 6th substantive and 3rd indigenous vice-chancellor.
His appointment, which takes effect on May 5, 2026, was announced Tuesday by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Sunday Oladapo Oke.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Rahamon Adisa Bello, commended the appointment, describing Oladipo’s emergence as a product of merit and resilience.
Bello noted that the new vice chancellor has shown unwavering dedication to the university’s founding ideals.
A foundation faculty member, Oladipo has a long-standing history with the institution.
He joined the Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE) in 1999 and transitioned to TASUED when the institution was upgraded in 2005.
He attained the rank of professor in October 2014.
Prior to this appointment, Oladipo held several high-level administrative positions, including pioneer Director of the Directorate of Research and External Relations (DRER) and Dean of the College of Specialised and Professional Education (COSPED).
He also served as chairman of the University Result Vetting Board.
An accomplished researcher, Oladipo completed a postdoctoral fellowship at North-West University in South Africa and is a recipient of the National Research Fund.
His academic portfolio includes over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and 10 edited academic books.
His research focuses on critical social issues, including gender-based violence, child abuse, and help-seeking behaviour.
