The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation (SSACO) has dismissed allegations that Oyo State governorship aspirant’s running mate, Hon. Adesoji Adedeji, insulted residents of Oke-Ogun during his visit to Saki, describing the reports circulating on social media as fabricated.
SSACO, in a statement issued by its Director of Media and Publicity, Bisi Oladele, maintained that Alli and Adedeji hold the people of Oke-Ogun in high regard and urged residents to disregard the allegation.
The organisation accused unnamed political opponents of spreading the reports in response to the reception Adedeji received during a series of youth town hall meetings across Oyo State.
According to the statement, the meetings held in Saki, Ogbomoso, Iseyin and Oyo earlier in the week attracted large crowds, particularly young people.
“We are not surprised by the shenanigans of drowning politicians who will stop at nothing to gain relevance,” the organisation said.
SSACO alleged that some political groups, particularly those associated with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), had become unsettled by the growing acceptance of the APC candidates in Oke-Ogun and other parts of the state.
The campaign organisation, however, did not provide independent evidence to substantiate its allegation that political opponents were responsible for the social media reports.
SSACO highlights Oke-Ogun development plans
Reaffirming the candidates’ commitment to the region, SSACO said Oke-Ogun remained a priority in the Oyo AHEAD agenda being promoted by Alli and Adedeji.
It listed agriculture, infrastructure, youth development, education and healthcare as key areas of focus under the proposed programme.
The organisation also cited the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho, and ongoing federal government road reconstruction projects in Oke-Ogun as evidence of the region’s strategic importance.
According to SSACO, the projects demonstrate the attention being given to the area by leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The campaign organisation further insisted that the allegation against Adedeji would not undermine the relationship between the party, its candidates and the people of Oke-Ogun.
“There is no amount of lies that can drive a wedge between APC, its candidates and the good people of Oke-Ogun,” the statement said.
Campaign urges residents to support APC agenda
SSACO called on residents of Oke-Ogun to disregard the allegation and continue engaging with the APC and its programmes for the region and Oyo State.
It also appealed to residents across the state to support the Oyo AHEAD agenda, arguing that its proposed implementation would help restore Oyo State’s pace-setting status in Nigeria.
The statement comes amid political activities ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, with political parties and their candidates engaging residents and various interest groups across the state.
The allegation concerning Adedeji’s visit to Saki and the campaign organisation’s response have not been independently verified.
