Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has promised a more impactful second term, expressing confidence that his administration will deliver greater progress after his inauguration on Friday, October 16, 2026.

Oyebanji made the pledge during an eight-hour praise and worship programme organised in Ado-Ekiti as part of activities marking his inauguration for a second term.

The governor attributed the achievements recorded during his first four years in office to God’s grace and the support of President Bola Tinubu, expressing optimism that the next four years would bring greater development to the state.

“With God’s grace and support of the people, my second term will be far more impactful than the first,” Oyebanji said.

According to a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, the governor spoke while rounding off the special session tagged “Eight Hours of Praise”, which brought together worshippers, government officials, political leaders and other residents of the state.

Oyebanji explained that he deliberately chose an extended praise and worship session to express gratitude for his administration’s first term and seek divine guidance for the incoming four years.

He said the idea emerged while preparations were underway for the inauguration programme, adding that he told his wife that eight hours of praise and worship was the only activity he particularly wanted included.

“I actually don’t have much to say today other than to explain the reason I chose to have this ‘Eight hours of praise worship’ to God. When they were crafting the programmes for the inauguration, I told my wife that the only thing I wanted, and that is extremely important, is eight hours of quality praise and worship to God. Four hours for the last four years and another four hours for the next four years,” the governor said.

He added that he would continue to praise and worship God in recognition of what he described as God’s faithfulness and presence in the affairs of Ekiti State.

Oyebanji, who won re-election in the June 20, 2026 governorship election, is expected to begin his second term following the inauguration ceremony scheduled for October 16.

**Bamidele expresses confidence in second term**

Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele commended the governor for organising the praise programme, describing the initiative as a demonstration of gratitude to God on behalf of himself and the state.

Bamidele also expressed confidence that Oyebanji would build on the achievements of his first term and deliver greater results during his second tenure.

He urged the governor to remain focused and confident as he prepares to continue leading the state, expressing optimism that the incoming administration would consolidate existing achievements and surpass expectations.
