Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Monday inaugurated a new Head of Service and two commissioners, urging them to work collaboratively with other members of the state executive council to advance the welfare of residents and support the administration’s development agenda.

The governor swore in Mrs. Adenike Fasina as Head of Service, alongside Lateef Oyeleke and Ayobami Ojo as commissioners, during a ceremony held in Ibadan, the state capital.

He said the appointments were founded on merit, competence and a track record of distinguished service, stressing that his administration has consistently prioritised excellence over sentiment in selecting public office holders.

According to the governor, the success recorded by his government over the years has been driven largely by its commitment to appointing qualified individuals capable of delivering results.

He congratulated the newly inaugurated officials and charged them to remain committed to the ideals of the administration by demonstrating loyalty, professionalism and dedication in the discharge of their responsibilities.

“As a government, we have continued to place emphasis on competence and excellence. These appointments are in recognition of years of diligence, hard work and outstanding contributions to the development of the state,” Makinde said.

Following their inauguration, the governor assigned portfolios to the new commissioners. Oyeleke was named Commissioner for Special Duties, while Ojo was appointed Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.

Makinde also announced a minor cabinet reshuffle, redeploying Mrs. Faosat Sanni from the Ministry of Special Duties to the Ministry of Investment, Trade, Cooperatives and Industry.

Speaking on the appointment of Fasina as Head of Service, the governor noted that the development further reinforces his administration’s commitment to promoting gender inclusion in governance.

He stated that the appointment aligns with the government’s policy of ensuring at least 35 per cent representation for women in public offices and decision-making positions.

Makinde reiterated his administration’s determination to strengthen the state’s public service, describing it as a critical institution for implementing government policies and delivering services to citizens.

The governor also used the occasion to reaffirm his government’s commitment to security across the state. He encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the state’s toll-free emergency line, 615.

He assured the public that efforts were ongoing to secure the release of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, expressing confidence that the victims would be safely reunited with their families.

Makinde urged residents to continue supporting security agencies and government initiatives aimed at maintaining peace and protecting lives and property throughout the state.
