The speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has officially endorsed Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat for the governorship of Lagos State.
The endorsement occurred during Hamzat’s visit to Obasa’s official residence in Ikeja on Thursday.
The visit is part of the Deputy Governor’s ongoing political consultations with All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and stakeholders across the state.
During the meeting, Obasa praised Hamzat’s track record in infrastructure development and his unwavering loyalty to the APC.
He asserted that Hamzat is the most qualified candidate to lead the state.
“I just returned from Abuja, and the conversation remains the same – Obafemi Hamzat is the next governor of Lagos State,” Obasa said.
“You have demonstrated unquestionable loyalty to our great party and even greater competence in serving Lagos. We love you, we support you, and we will do everything to ensure that we win the election.”
Responding to the endorsement, Hamzat expressed gratitude to the Speaker, noting Obasa’s significant legislative experience and political influence.
He emphasised that his political aspirations are rooted in the broader interest of the state rather than personal ambition.
“Lagos is a collective project,” Hamzat stated. “My consultations are not about personal ambition but about ensuring continuity, innovation, and inclusive development for our people.”
