The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has intensified its campaign in Ekiti State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, with the party’s National Chairman, David Mark, and National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, criticising the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji and urging voters to support ADC candidate, Ambassador Dare Bejide.
Speaking during the party’s mega rally held in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, the ADC leaders described their party as the most credible option for residents seeking improved governance and economic opportunities.
Addressing party supporters, Mark appealed to voters across the state to cast their ballots for Bejide, expressing confidence in the candidate’s ability to deliver the development and prosperity desired by the people.
According to him, the ADC and its governorship flagbearer represent the best opportunity to transform the state and address challenges confronting residents.
“Vote for our candidate, Bejide, so that the Ekiti of your dream can be built. Give your votes to ADC,” Mark told the crowd.
The former Senate President further argued that the party remained the only political platform capable of rescuing the state from economic hardship and restoring hope to the people.
Also speaking at the rally, Aregbesola launched a scathing attack on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that the party had failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians at various levels of government.
The former Osun State governor rejected suggestions that the ADC lacked the capacity to challenge the incumbent administration, insisting that the true measure of political strength would be determined at the ballot box.
“We will meet at the poll. The APC has failed at the three tiers of government. APC may want to underestimate the opposition because of appearances, but such assumptions will prove costly,” Aregbesola said.
He maintained that the ADC stood a strong chance of winning the governorship election, provided the voting process remained transparent and credible.
Aregbesola further alleged that the ruling party would struggle to retain power if the election was conducted without interference or manipulation.
Expressing optimism about the party’s prospects, he told supporters that the enthusiasm displayed at the rally reflected growing public acceptance of the ADC across the state.
The ADC chieftain also paid tribute to women for their significant contributions to electoral processes and political participation.
He urged them to turn out in large numbers on election day, vote for the party’s candidate and ensure that their votes were protected.
The rally attracted party members and supporters from different parts of the state as campaigning entered its final phase ahead of Saturday’s governorship contest.
