The Lagos State chapter of the Accord Party has officially presented its candidates for the 2027 general elections, unveiling contenders for the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly seats.

At a ceremony held in Lagos on Saturday, the party issued Certificates of Return to 27 candidates who emerged to represent the party in different elective positions across the state.

Among those presented was the party’s governorship candidate, Sowore Robert, alongside candidates for the three senatorial districts and several legislative seats.

Addressing party members and supporters during the event, the Lagos State Chairman of the Accord Party, Dele Oladeji, described the occasion as a formal affirmation of the party’s readiness for the 2027 polls.

Oladeji, who is also contesting for the Lagos West Senatorial District seat, said the party was positioning itself as a credible alternative for residents dissatisfied with the existing political structure in the state.

According to him, the party’s agenda is anchored on social justice, equity and people-oriented governance aimed at improving the living conditions of citizens.

He said the Accord Party remained committed to policies that would enhance security and protect lives and property across the state.

“Today is significant because it affirms the candidates of the Accord Party in Lagos State for the 2027 general elections. We are issuing Certificates of Return and formally presenting them as the party’s candidates for the forthcoming elections,” Oladeji stated.

He added that many Lagos residents were seeking a different political direction and expressed confidence that the party possessed the capacity to provide effective leadership.

Also speaking at the event, the party’s Lagos Central Senatorial candidate, Solomon Wahab, said his ambition was motivated by the desire to improve governance and ensure citizens benefited more from democracy.

Wahab stressed the need for transparency and accountability in public administration, while urging Nigerians who were eligible to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and actively participate in the electoral process.

He further appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure the conduct of free, fair and credible elections during the 2027 polls.

The Accord Party candidate for the Badagry Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Joseph Jehoshaphat, pledged to focus on addressing infrastructure deficits and youth unemployment if elected.

Jehoshaphat said attracting federal projects and development programmes to Badagry would form a major part of his legislative priorities.

Similarly, the party’s Lagos State House of Assembly candidate for Somolu Constituency II, Abisoye Obayon, said his decision to contest was driven by the need to expand development opportunities for residents.

Obayon expressed optimism that voters would support candidates with strong grassroots connections and practical ideas for solving local challenges.

Meanwhile, the party’s Lagos East Senatorial candidate, Blessing Maduka-Sunday, called for increased participation of women in politics.

She described the low number of women occupying elective offices as a setback for inclusive governance and urged more women to seek political positions.

Maduka-Sunday also advocated policies targeted at women empowerment, poverty alleviation and wealth creation.
