Former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),  Jumoke Akinjide, has announced her return to active politics, declaring support for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Akinjide’s political comeback was announced in a statement issued on her behalf by her Special Assistant, Olatundun Leke Gabriel, a former Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly.

According to the statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, the former minister expressed readiness to resume political engagements after a period away from active politics.

The statement also conveyed appreciation to her supporters for their loyalty, prayers and continued support over the years.

It declared that her renewed political involvement would be anchored on support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Alli’s political ambition in Oyo State.

“We are pleased to announce that the journey to renewed service has begun. Jumoke is coming – Renewed Hope 2027,” the statement read.

Akinjide also urged her supporters across Oyo State and beyond to remain united, prayerful and committed as she prepares to re-enter the political arena.

She indicated her alignment with Alli’s political vision ahead of the 2027 governorship election, while further details of her political engagements are expected to be communicated in due course.

As part of her initial mobilisation efforts, the former minister called on her followers to attend the unveiling of Alli’s governorship manifesto at Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall in Ibadan.

Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, is the APC’s candidate for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.

His emergence as the party’s flagbearer has been followed by reconciliation efforts involving party leaders and other aspirants ahead of the polls.
