Friends and colleagues of late gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, will gather in Ibadan today, Tuesday, October 27, for a tribute night and service of songs in his honour.
The event is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Attendees have been encouraged to wear white for the ceremony.
A notice shared on the late singer’s official Instagram page said the gathering was organised by his friends and colleagues to celebrate his life and remember him.
“Tribute Night still holds today by 3pm at Jogor center, Ibadan. This is put together by the friends and colleagues. Please let’s come out to honor the life of our dear brother, friend,” the notice stated.
Today’s gathering comes 13 days after Toluwanisings died in the early hours of Wednesday, October 14, 2026, following a sudden collapse at his residence in Ibadan.
His family subsequently confirmed his death but did not disclose a cause.
His personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo, later recounted that frantic efforts were made to secure medical attention for the singer after he slumped.
According to Gbolabo, Toluwanisings was taken to between seven and eight hospitals in Ibadan, but the efforts reportedly failed to secure treatment.
He said some facilities cited the ongoing doctors’ strike, while others allegedly did not admit the singer.
The circumstances surrounding the reported difficulty in obtaining medical care have generated public concern, although the family has not publicly established that delays in treatment caused or contributed to the singer’s death.
Toluwanisings, who was 41, was known for his gospel music ministry and songs including “A Very Big God,” “Onibuore,” “Owo Re Meji Meji,” “E Lagbara” and “Unreserved Praise.”
His death came less than 24 hours after he ministered at “In His Presence,” a worship programme hosted by fellow gospel singer Bidemi Olaoba in Ibadan on Tuesday, October 13.
Reports said he appeared to be in good health before the sudden collapse the following morning.
Family, friends, colleagues and members of the Christian community are expected to use the tribute gathering to reflect on the singer’s life, music and contribution to gospel ministry.
The family had earlier described the tribute as a gathering for “love, reflection, heartfelt tributes, cherished memories, and thanksgiving to God” for the life and legacy of the late singer.
