Two truck-related incidents were reported along major roads in Lagos and Ogun States on Tuesday, with one involving an empty tipper truck left hanging on the railings of Kara Bridge, inward Mowe.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said the incidents were reported at about 7am, adding that its officers were deployed to manage traffic around the affected areas.

According to the agency, officers found an empty tipper truck hanging from the railings of Kara Bridge, while another flatbed truck spilled its contents onto the road.

“An empty tipper is seen hanging on the railings of the bridge and another flatbed truck spilled its contents on the road,” LASTMA stated in a post on its official X handle.

A tow truck was deployed to the scene to evacuate the affected vehicles, while police officers from Adigboluja were also present to assist.

LASTMA said its officers were managing traffic movement towards Mowe and that traffic remained smooth when the report was issued.

“Officers are on ground managing the traffic movement inward Mowe as traffic is still good at the moment,” the agency stated.

Meanwhile, LASTMA reported another truck incident at Shasha Roundabout, inward Akowonjo Roundabout, where a loaded DAF lorry reportedly broke down due to mechanical faults.

The agency said the lorry was occupying about 70 per cent of the road, potentially restricting traffic movement along the busy route.

“There’s a broken-down loaded DAF lorry with mechanical faults occupying about 70 per cent of the road at Shasha Roundabout, inward Akowonjo Roundabout,” LASTMA stated.

A tow truck was contacted to evacuate the broken-down lorry, while LASTMA officers remained at the location to manage traffic and minimise disruption.

The incidents highlight the traffic risks posed by heavy-duty vehicles breaking down or becoming involved in accidents on major corridors, particularly during peak movement periods.

LASTMA urged motorists approaching the affected areas to exercise caution and comply with traffic management directives as recovery operations continued.
