The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, will unveil his manifesto for the 2027 election on Friday, October 30, as the party seeks to consolidate its development record and present a fresh policy direction for the state.

Director-General of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-Kadri Obafemi Hamzat (PBAT-KOH) Campaign Council, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, announced the manifesto launch on Sunday at a press conference in Ikeja.

The event will hold at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, formerly the National Arts Theatre, in Iganmu, Lagos, between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Guests are expected to arrive from 11 a.m.

Physical attendance will be restricted to invited guests because of the venue’s seating capacity.

However, the presentation will be broadcast live on television and digital platforms, including Channels Television, ARISE TV, TVC, Lagos Television and News Central, as well as YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.

Obanikoro said the campaign was anchored on shared progress and inclusivity, with Hamzat expected to outline his vision, policy priorities and plans for the continued development of Lagos.

He said the campaign’s approach would be based on preserving successful policies, addressing shortcomings and introducing solutions to emerging challenges rather than pursuing continuity for its own sake.

“Continuity is not about doing things the same way simply because they have been done before. It is about protecting what works, correcting what needs improvement and building on existing progress,” Obanikoro said.

The campaign council is positioning Hamzat’s candidacy as a continuation of the development trajectory associated with successive APC administrations in Lagos, beginning with Bola Tinubu, followed by Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, and continuing under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Obanikoro pointed to infrastructure, transportation, education, healthcare, housing, economic development and support for businesses and young people as areas where the administration’s existing efforts would be consolidated.

Other challenges identified by the campaign include security, environmental management, human capital development and the pressure created by Lagos’ growing population and limited landmass.

Hamzat, popularly known as KOH, is currently serving as Lagos deputy governor and has previously served as a commissioner in the state government on three occasions.

Obanikoro also highlighted his private-sector experience, including his work with global financial institutions such as Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Citibank.

He further noted that Hamzat obtained a PhD in Systems Process Engineering from Cranfield University, England, at the age of 28.

The campaign council said consultations had been held with traditional rulers, religious leaders, market women and traders, youth groups, professionals, artisans, community leaders and other stakeholders across Lagos.

According to Obanikoro, the consultations are intended to ensure that residents’ concerns and aspirations are reflected in the manifesto, stressing that governance should be informed by the realities of people across different communities.

Hamzat had also previously discussed policy proposals covering areas such as transportation, housing, security and technology at an engagement with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry on October 13.

Reports indicate that he had said the manifesto was about 537 pages and that the campaign team was working to cost its proposals and develop realistic implementation timelines.

After Friday’s presentation, the manifesto will be made available for public download, allowing Lagos residents to study the proposals and submit comments, suggestions and other constructive feedback through official party channels.

The campaign council said the initiative was intended to deepen grassroots participation and ensure that the proposed development agenda reflects the needs of Lagos residents ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
