The African Action Congress (AAC) has asked President Bola Tinubu to approve the use of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party also requested food, drinks and other logistical support for participants expected at the proposed event on November 11, 2026.

AAC made the requests in a letter dated October 21, 2026, addressed to Tinubu and signed by its National Secretary, Oshiokhai Ikpeminioghena.

In the letter titled, “Request for Approval to Hold the Inauguration of the AAC Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa and for Logistical Support,” the party said the proposed ceremony formed part of its preparations for the 2027 elections.

“On behalf of the African Action Congress (AAC), I respectfully write to request approval to hold the inauguration ceremony of our Presidential Campaign Council on the 11th of November 2026 at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, in preparation for the 2027 general elections,” the letter stated.

AAC said its request was anchored on the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of political parties.

The party further asked the Presidency to provide welfare and logistical arrangements for those attending the event, arguing that similar support had reportedly been extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for a political engagement.

“In the spirit of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment of political parties, we also request the provision of food, drinks, and other logistical support for participants at the event, consistent with the arrangements reportedly extended to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement,” it said.

According to the AAC, granting the request would reinforce the Presidency’s commitment to fairness and equal access to public institutions regardless of political affiliation.

“We believe that granting this request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness, equal access, and the principle that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination,” the party said.

The opposition party also asked the Presidency to communicate the procedures and conditions that would apply to the approval of its request.

“We look forward to your favourable consideration of this request and would appreciate information on the applicable procedures and conditions for its approval,” the letter added.

The request comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with campaigns and coalition-building activities expected to gather momentum ahead of the polls.
