President Bola Tinubu has departed Abuja for Europe to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave.
Tinubu’s first destination is London, United Kingdom, according to a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The presidential aide said the president would spend the vacation in Europe before returning to Nigeria.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today for Europe to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave. His first stop will be London, United Kingdom,” Onanuga said.
Onanuga said the president would return home after the vacation to participate in the political campaign ahead of the January 2027 election.
“President Tinubu is expected to return home after the working vacation to join the hectic campaign for the January 2027 election,” the statement added.
The president’s trip comes amid increasing political activity across the country as political parties and aspirants intensify preparations for the 2027 elections.
However, the statement did not disclose Tinubu’s detailed itinerary for his stay in London or indicate whether he would travel to other European countries during the three-week vacation.
The presidency also did not provide details on the specific activities planned for the president during the period.
Tinubu’s absence from the country is expected to coincide with a period of heightened political engagement as parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
