Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has praised the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for recording major successes in the ongoing joint security operation, Operation Kosaye, aimed at dismantling criminal networks operating across Lagos and Ogun states.
The governor’s commendation follows the achievements recorded by the security operation, which has led to the arrest of 88 suspected criminals, the rescue of five kidnapped victims, and the recovery of several arms and ammunition from criminal elements.
Security operatives also neutralised four suspected criminals during a gun battle while carrying out the operation against kidnappers, armed robbers and other violent gangs terrorising communities in the two neighbouring states.
Sanwo-Olu described the operation as a significant milestone in the fight against crime, saying it has strengthened efforts to safeguard lives and property across Lagos.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies through sustained collaboration and strategic partnerships to maintain peace and public safety.
“We will continue to work with the police and other security agencies to ensure that our state is safe and secure for residents and visitors,” the governor said.
The governor also applauded the Nigeria Police for the successful execution of the operation, attributing the achievements to the directive of the Inspector-General of Police and the effective collaboration between security formations in Lagos and Ogun states.
He expressed confidence that continued synergy among law enforcement agencies would further reduce criminal activities and improve the security environment for residents, businesses and visitors.
The ongoing Operation Kosaye forms part of coordinated efforts by security agencies to intensify intelligence-led operations against criminal groups operating within Lagos and Ogun, particularly those involved in kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes.
