The council announced the development in a statement issued in Ibadan on Wednesday and jointly signed by its chairman, Akeem Abas, and secretary, Temidayo Adu.

Other members of the committee are Sola Oladapo, Kemi Olaitan, Semiu Azeez, Bukola Owolabi, Olubunmi Olalere and Phebean Ojo.
The council said the establishment of the committee signals the formal commencement of activities leading to the diamond jubilee celebration of the union in Oyo State.
It noted that the committee is made up of experienced journalists and media professionals whose track records, commitment and contributions to journalism make them well-suited for the assignment.
The union expressed confidence in the committee’s capacity to organise a memorable and successful anniversary celebration that would reflect the achievements and legacy of the NUJ in the state.
The council further disclosed that the committee would soon unveil a lineup of programmes and activities aimed at commemorating the union’s accomplishments over the past six decades.
According to the statement, the events will also recognise individuals who have made notable contributions to journalism and media development in Oyo State.
In addition, the committee is expected to work closely with the State Working Committee to ensure smooth coordination and successful execution of all activities planned for the anniversary.
The 60th anniversary celebration is expected to provide an opportunity for members of the union, stakeholders and media practitioners to reflect on the growth of journalism in Oyo State and chart a path for the future of the profession.
