The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Alao, has congratulated elder statesman and prominent politician, Dr. Saka Balogun, on his 90th birthday, describing the milestone as a remarkable blessing and a celebration of a life dedicated to service.
In a congratulatory statement issued on Wednesday, the traditional ruler joined family members, associates and well-wishers in expressing gratitude to God for granting Dr. Balogun the grace to attain the age of 90.
Oba Alao commended the nonagenarian for his decades of exemplary leadership, academic excellence and commitment to community development, noting that his contributions have left an enduring impact on Oyo State and Nigeria.
The monarch also highlighted Dr. Balogun’s distinguished roles as the Balogun of Ogbomosoland and Chairman of the Oyo State Elders’ Council, saying the honours reflect his unwavering dedication to public service and the respect he commands across the state.
According to the Olugbon, Dr. Balogun has remained a respected politician, accomplished academic and community leader whose life continues to inspire younger generations.
The statement read in part: “For your seven decades of adulthood, you grew among your people, enriching decision-making with your wisdom, serving your community, Oyo State and Nigeria at large with integrity. Your contributions to academics, community progress and national development are notable as you trod the path of uprightness and patriotism with humility. Younger Nigerian leaders have a lot to learn from your values and inspiring leadership.”
Oba Alao further extended his congratulations on behalf of his wife, Olori Olushola Adedoyin-Alao, and the people of Orile-Igbon.
“As you join the league of nonagenarians today, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you on behalf of Olori Olushola Adedoyin-Alao and the good people of Orile-Igbon. I pray for good health and abiding grace to navigate this new chapter in your life,” the monarch stated.
Dr. Balogun is widely recognised for his longstanding contributions to politics, academia and community development, earning admiration as one of Oyo State’s foremost elder statesmen.
