A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Sharafadeen Alli, has successfully passed the party’s screening process ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.
Senator Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, appeared before the APC National Screening Committee in Abuja on Saturday and was subsequently cleared to contest for the party’s governorship ticket.
The clearance is seen by political stakeholders as a major boost to his ambition and a response to recent claims and speculations allegedly being circulated by some aggrieved politicians operating under the guise of concerned youths against his aspiration.
The development comes weeks after prominent leaders and influential stakeholders of the Oyo State chapter of the APC reportedly aligned with the endorsement of Senator Alli by President Bola Tinubu as the party’s preferred governorship candidate.
The reported endorsement was said to have emerged during a stakeholders’ meeting held in the Samonda area of Ibadan, where party leaders expressed support for Alli’s governorship bid ahead of the 2027 election.
Following the successful completion of the screening exercise, congratulatory messages have continued to pour in from party leaders, supporters, political associates and well-wishers across Oyo State.
Political observers believe the latest development has further strengthened Senator Alli’s standing within the party and improved his chances of clinching the APC governorship ticket for the 2027 election in the state.
