Ekiti State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, officially launched his re-election campaign on Monday, beginning a tour of the state’s 16 local government areas.

During the campaign kickoff in Ikole and Oye Ekiti, Oyebanji emphasised that a second term would ensure the stability of the policies and developmental legacies established during his current administration.

He asserted that the state stands to benefit significantly from the continuity of aligned leadership and ongoing projects.

The campaign comes ahead of the governorship election scheduled for June 20, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Candidates from 13 different political parties will feature in the contest.

Addressing supporters in Ikole Ekiti, the governor highlighted his administration’s track record in delivering essential services.

He said he has fulfilled previous electoral promises regarding critical infrastructure, including improvements to roads, schools, electricity, and water supply.

“Our state will benefit immensely from continuity,” Oyebanji stated, adding that his administration has successfully brought insecurity under control.

He also issued a stern warning against political violence, urging supporters to “fight with your votes” rather than through physical confrontation.

APC State Chairman Sola Elesin echoed these sentiments, describing Oyebanji’s achievements over the past three and a half years as unprecedented.

Elesin called on the electorate to support the incumbent to ensure the continued delivery of democratic dividends across all sectors.

Local support was also evident, with Ikole youth leader Valentine David praising the governor’s impact on agriculture, education, and sports development, pledging full support for the re-election bid.
