A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has released its official timetable and schedule of activities for the 2026/2027 general elections, outlining key dates for primaries, screenings, and campaign periods.

The timetable, announced on Monday via the party’s official X account, was signed by the organising secretary of the faction’s interim national working committee, Theophilus Dakas.

According to the schedule, the cost of nomination forms has been fixed at N100 million for presidential aspirants and N40 million for governorship candidates.

Senate aspirants are to pay N10 million, while forms for the House of Representatives and State Houses of Assembly are priced at N7 million and N2 million, respectively.

The faction also introduced concessions aimed at broadening participation. Female aspirants are required to purchase only expression of interest forms, while youths and persons living with disabilities will benefit from a 50 per cent discount on nomination forms.

Activities commence on May 4, 2026, with the issuance of notices of election to state chapters.

The sale of expression of interest and nomination forms is scheduled to run from May 5 to May 13, 2026.

State chapters are expected to submit their party registers to the Independent National Electoral Commission by May 7, 2026.

According to the schedule, screening of aspirants will be conducted in phases. State assembly aspirants are slated for screening on May 15, followed by House of Representatives and Senate aspirants on May 16.

Governorship and presidential hopefuls will undergo screening on May 18, while appeals arising from the exercise will be addressed on May 21.

Ward congresses and party primaries are scheduled for the latter part of May, culminating in a Special National Convention on May 30, 2026, for the ratification of candidates.

The submission of nomination forms to INEC will take place electronically between late June and mid-July 2026.

For the campaigns, presidential and National Assembly candidates are expected to commence theirs in August 2026, while those for governorship and state assembly positions will begin in September 2026, ending in early 2027.

The timetable was released shortly after the faction ratified the appointment of a 13-member caretaker committee led by Tanimu Turaki as chairman during its 103rd National Executive Committee meeting held in Abuja.

Other members of the committee include Taofeek Arapaja, who was named National Secretary, alongside Daniel Ambrose, Hamza Abuya, Ihediwa, Isah Abubakar, Dakashan, Ini Ememobong, Aribisala Adewale Idowu, Baru Shaffi, and Okechukwu Obiechina.

The development comes amid a parallel process within the party, as a separate National Working Committee backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, had earlier commenced the sale of nomination forms on April 27, with the exercise scheduled to end on May 7.

Meanwhile, INEC has fixed January 16, 2027, for presidential and national assembly elections, while governorship and state houses of assembly elections will be held on February 6, 2027.

The commission stated that party primaries, including dispute resolution, will take place between April 23 and May 30, 2026.

It further announced that campaigns for presidential and national assembly elections will begin on August 19, 2026, while governorship and state assembly campaigns are set to commence on September 9, 2026.
