Two people sustained gunshot wounds during a failed kidnapping attempt in the old Kara area of Bodija, Ibadan.
Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, reported that the incident occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. on April 21, 2026.
According to him, four armed suspects stormed a Point of Sale (POS) shop before being intercepted by security operatives and local hunters.
The rapid response prevented the assailants from completing their planned abduction.
While two individuals were injured during the exchange of gunfire, they were rescued and moved to a medical facility for treatment.
The attack follows a similar recent incident in Onigambari village, Oluyole Local Government Area, where a victim identified as Dasola was killed.
Police have intensified bush-combing operations to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
In response to the incident, the State Commissioner of Police has ordered the deployment of additional personnel to vulnerable locations to strengthen security and deter further criminal activities.
The Command reiterated its commitment to investigating the matter and prosecuting those responsible.
