Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested a 55-year-old man, John Anoruo, for allegedly using a forged Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) seal in Lagos.
The suspect, who operates a legal and educational consultancy in the Ikorodu area, was apprehended by the EFCC’s Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 on Monday, April 20, 2026.
The investigation began after Anoruo submitted a petition to the commission on September 22, 2025, acting on behalf of clients against the management of Global West Vessel Specialist Nigeria Limited.
During the inquiry, investigators discovered that both the petition and a subsequent withdrawal letter dated March 5, 2026, bore counterfeit NBA seals.
Anoruo reportedly confessed to obtaining the forged seal from a business centre in Lagos.
While the suspect claimed to have earned a law degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, through evening classes in 2018, he admitted he did not attend the Nigerian Law School.
The EFCC stated that Anoruo will face formal charges in court once investigations are finalised.
