The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has extended its felicitations to workers across the state, with special recognition for journalists, commending their invaluable contributions to societal growth and democratic development.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Akeem Abas, and the Secretary, Temidayo Adu, the union praised the dedication and resilience of workers who continue to play critical roles in sustaining the economy and strengthening democratic institutions.

The council particularly lauded journalists in Oyo State for their steadfast commitment to truth, accountability, and public service, despite the prevailing economic challenges affecting the media industry.

According to the NUJ, many media professionals operate under difficult conditions yet remain resolute in their responsibility to keep the public informed and hold authorities accountable.

It noted that such perseverance underscores the press’s vital role in fostering transparency and good governance.

The union further urged journalists to uphold professionalism and adhere strictly to the ethics of the profession, even as they navigate increasing pressures within the media landscape.

Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare and protection of its members, the NUJ called on the government and relevant stakeholders to create a more enabling environment that supports workers’ productivity and well-being.
