The Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Sunday led a high-powered federal government delegation to Ogbomoso in Oyo State as part of efforts to assess the security situation in communities affected by recent violent incidents in Oriire Local Government Area.
The delegation also included the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe.
During the visit, Senator Buhari Abdulfatai briefed the delegation extensively on the prevailing security challenges confronting residents of the affected communities.
According to the senator, the briefing focused on the impact of the recent security incidents on residents, ongoing intervention efforts, and measures being introduced to strengthen security operations and restore normalcy across the troubled areas.
The federal government team also held consultations with community leaders, security agencies, and other critical stakeholders during the assessment mission.
The engagement, according to sources at the meeting, was aimed at evaluating the situation on the ground and reinforcing the federal government’s commitment to protecting lives and property in the affected communities.
The delegation further assured residents that necessary steps would continue to be taken to improve security coordination and ensure lasting peace in Oriire Local Government Area and surrounding communities.
The visit comes amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of Oyo State following recent attacks and abductions reported in some rural communities within the state.
