The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has mourned the sudden death of Olalekan Quadri Olayiwola, Financial Secretary of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Chapel.

Olayiwola, a journalist with Radio Nigeria, was described by the council as a creative and versatile broadcaster whose dedication and professionalism made a significant contribution to the journalism profession.

In a condolence statement jointly signed by the NUJ Oyo State Council Chairman, Akeem Abas, and Secretary, Temidayo Adu, the union said Olayiwola distinguished himself through his commitment to his duties and his versatility across various aspects of broadcasting.

The council noted that during his years with Radio Nigeria, Olayiwola demonstrated his professional abilities in reporting, translation and Yoruba news presentation.

His ability to work across different areas of broadcasting, the union said, reflected his passion for journalism and contributed to the growth and development of the station.

NUJ said his versatility and effective deployment of his skills in both reporting and broadcasting endeared him to colleagues and audiences.

The council described his sudden death as a painful loss to the FRCN Chapel, Radio Nigeria and the wider journalism community in Oyo State.

It commiserated with members of Olayiwola’s family, his colleagues at the FRCN Chapel and the broader media community over the loss.

The union urged the bereaved family and his colleagues to draw strength from the professional contributions and memories he left behind.

NUJ also prayed for God to grant his family, friends and colleagues the strength and fortitude to bear the loss, while asking for eternal rest for the deceased.
